A Serene Start: Dubrovnik by Boat

Our Adriatic Gems cruise aboard the Oosterdam began with a delightful first port of call: Dubrovnik, Croatia. Although we had explored Dubrovnik’s historic Old Town on a previous visit, this time we opted for a fresh perspective by chartering a private boat.

The day unfolded with gentle waves and a radiant sun, making it an ideal setting for our maritime adventure. As we set sail, Dubrovnik’s majestic city walls and terracotta rooftops drifted into view, framed beautifully against the azure backdrop of the Adriatic Sea. The boat’s captain expertly guided us around the picturesque coastline, allowing us to appreciate the architectural beauty of the city from a unique vantage point.

We meandered past the iconic city walls and the shimmering waters of the Lapad Peninsula, taking in the serene landscapes and enjoying the tranquility of being away from the bustling tourist spots. The experience was punctuated with moments of peaceful solitude and the occasional burst of laughter as we shared stories and sipped on refreshing beverages.

Our private boat excursion not only allowed us to revisit Dubrovnik’s charm in a new way but also gave us the freedom to set our own pace and truly savor the stunning coastal scenery. As the day drew to a close, we felt a deep sense of contentment and anticipation for the next leg of our journey.

With Dubrovnik now behind us, we eagerly look forward to our next destination: Kotor, Montenegro. The promise of new experiences and the continuing adventure of our Adriatic Gems cruise await us as we set sail towards the captivating beauty of Montenegro.

Beneath a sky of sapphire hue, where Adriatic whispers flow,
We embarked on a journey, where ancient waters gently glow.
Dubrovnik’s timeless grandeur, bathed in sunlight’s tender grace,
Unfolded ‘round us softly, as we danced upon the waves.

The city walls of amber, ‘gainst the sea’s embracing blue,
Stood as silent sentinels, of history’s storied view.
From our private vessel's cradle, we beheld the seaward span,
Of terracotta dreams and tales, in a sunlit, tranquil land.

With every gentle ripple, and the seagull’s distant cry,
We ventured through the crystal, where the ancient secrets lie.
The coastline’s gentle curves and bays, with emerald kisses kissed,
Revealed a hidden poetry, that no penned word could resist.

As dusk began its painting, with hues of violet and gold,
Our hearts were light and wandering, where tales of old were told.
And with Dubrovnik in our wake, a promise set to sail,
We turned towards Montenegro, where another dream awaits.
