Exploring Tunisia’s Treasures with Holland America Line

Day 4 of our Holland America Line adventure took us on a captivating journey through the historical wonders of Tunisia. From the ancient ruins of Carthage to the charming village of Sidi Bou Said and the bustling medina of Tunis, every moment was a testament to the rich cultural tapestry of this North African gem.

Our first stop was La Goulette, where we were greeted by the warm Mediterranean breeze and the promise of adventure. Stepping onto the shores of Tunisia, we felt a palpable sense of history as we embarked on a guided tour of Carthage. Walking among the ruins of this once-mighty civilization, we marveled at the remnants of ancient temples, theaters, and baths, each stone whispering tales of a bygone era.

Next, we found ourselves transported to the picturesque village of Sidi Bou Said, where whitewashed buildings adorned with vibrant blue accents lined narrow cobblestone streets. Wandering through the maze-like alleys, we couldn’t help but be enchanted by the timeless beauty of this coastal oasis. From quaint cafes serving traditional mint tea to artisan shops brimming with handmade crafts, Sidi Bou Said was a feast for the senses.

As the day unfolded, we made our way to the heart of Tunis, where the labyrinthine streets of the medina beckoned us to explore. Lost amidst a maze of bustling souks and hidden courtyards, we immersed ourselves in the sights, sounds, and scents of this vibrant marketplace. From spices and textiles to intricate ceramics and dazzling jewelry, the medina offered a glimpse into Tunisia’s rich artisanal heritage.

As the sun began to set, we returned to the MS Nieuw Statendam, our hearts full of memories and our minds buzzing with the wonders we had encountered. From the ancient grandeur of Carthage to the timeless charm of Sidi Bou Said and the vibrant energy of Tunis’ medina, our day in Tunisia had been nothing short of extraordinary. With Holland America Line as our guide, we had embarked on a journey through time and culture, leaving us eager for the adventures that lay ahead.

In Tunisia's embrace, we sailed the seas,
With Holland America, our hearts at ease.
Day 4 dawned, La Goulette's shores aglow,
To ancient Carthage, our spirits did flow.

Amongst the ruins, whispers of old,
Tales of glory, stories untold.
Sidi Bou Said, a vision in blue,
Where time stood still, and dreams anew.

Through Tunis' medina, we wandered wide,
A labyrinth of wonders, where cultures collide.
Spices danced, in the sun's warm embrace,
Crafts of ages past, adorned each space.

On Nieuw Statendam, as twilight fell,
Memories woven, in tales we tell.
A day of adventure, in Tunisia's embrace,
With Holland America, we found our grace.
