Zuiderdam, Jewels of the Baltic: Invergordon, Scottish Highlands

Our journey aboard the Zuiderdam on the “Jewels of the Baltic” cruise brought us to the charming port of Invergordon, nestled in the breathtaking Scottish Highlands. The picturesque landscapes and rich history of this region promised an unforgettable experience, and it did not disappoint.

In the morning, we visited a beautiful castle with an equally stunning garden. Wandering through the castle’s halls, we marveled at its historical significance and architectural splendor. The garden was a tranquil haven, bursting with vibrant blooms and meticulously maintained greenery, offering a peaceful respite from our explorations.

Lunch at Kingmills was a delightful affair. The ambiance was warm and inviting, the perfect setting to enjoy a delicious meal that showcased local flavors and culinary artistry. The hearty dishes and friendly service made it a memorable dining experience, fueling us for the rest of our day’s adventures.

As we sailed away from Invergordon, the ship turned gracefully, giving us stunning views of the serene waters and lush, rolling hills. The sight of the Scottish Highlands fading into the distance was both mesmerizing and bittersweet, marking the end of yet another splendid day of exploration. The Facebook videos captured these moments perfectly, immortalizing the beauty and tranquility of our sail away.

Dinner that evening was an exclusive event: Le Cirque, renowned for its exquisite culinary delights. We were treated to a gastronomic feast that began with a fabulous lobster salad, each bite a delicate balance of flavors. The melon yogurt shrimp soup was nothing short of divine, offering a refreshing yet indulgent taste that lingered on our palates.

The main course featured lamb that was truly to die for, cooked to perfection and bursting with savory goodness. As the evening progressed, we were delighted by the crème brûlée and pavlova, both desserts standing out for their exceptional taste and presentation. Accompanied by champagne, wine, and coffee, this dinner was truly the best we had ever experienced, a celebration of fine dining and elegant ambiance.

Our day in Invergordon and the Scottish Highlands was a perfect blend of natural beauty and culinary excellence, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

In the morning mist, we roamed a castle grand,
Where history and whispers filled the land.
Gardens bloomed with colors bright and fair,
A tranquil haven in the crisp Highland air.

Lunch at Kingmills, a feast to behold,
Stories shared, and memories retold.
The flavors of Scotland danced on our tongues,
A symphony of tastes, where every bite sung.

The ship turned slowly, Invergordon's farewell,
Highland hills and waters cast a spell.
Majestic vistas fading from our sight,
As we sailed away into the twilight.

Le Cirque awaited, an evening divine,
Lobster salad, a taste so fine.
Melon yogurt shrimp soup, a delight,
Lamb to die for, cooked just right.

Crème brûlée and pavlova, sweet and grand,
Champagne, wine, coffee close at hand.
A dinner, the best we've ever known,
In the heart of the ocean, a world our own.

From castle gardens to culinary dreams,
Invergordon and the Highlands, more than they seem.
A day of wonders, a night so rare,
Memories crafted with love and care.
